Microsoft BI Certification – The easy way to stay current

Two years ago I passed the 70-445 and 70-446 exams and got both my MCTS and MCITP certification. Having worked with SQL Server 2008 for a while, I planned to take the new exams to stay current.

Luckily, I found that as long as you have the MCITP: Business Intelligence Developer on SQL Server 2005, you can forget taking these two new exams. Instead, go for the upgrade exam called 70-455 and magically get both 2008 certifications.

    If you have this certification

    Take this required transition exam

Earn these SQL Server 2008 certifications

MCITP: Business Intelligence Developer on SQL Server 2005

Exam 70-455: Upgrade: Transition Your MCITP SQL Server 2005 Business Intelligence Developer to MCITP SQL Server 2008 Business Intelligence Developer

    MCITP: Business Intelligence Developer 2008

    and

MCTS: SQL Server 2008, Business Intelligence Development and Maintenance

In my case, the new exam was a two part exam. The first part was 20 questions related to developing BI solutions on SQL Server 2008, and the second part was 25 questions related to development and maintenance of BI solutions on SQL Server 2008.  With the 2005 certification and some experience with SQL Server 2008 you should pass without any difficulties I guess.

So, how did I do ?

    - Very well, thank you :-)
